Dementia Services - Shepherd Unit
A distinct and separate area of each Providence Place Facility is dedicated to the care of those with memory-related difficulties, forms of mild dementia and early stage Alzheimer's disease. Included in the daily rental fee are all the Assisted Living services plus:
- An anxiety-reducing environment
- Secure unit technology with free access to attractive outside areas
- Special programming
- Extended personal assistance as needed (up to 2.5 hrs/day)
Validation Approach
The validation method provides a practical method of communication with disoriented or confused seniors. It is a tested model of practice that helps reduce the stress and anxiety that disoriented residents may feel. The Validation method enhances their dignity and happiness.
